MY ERODED TRUST WITH MUSO OFFICIALS. by steve machariah

“If you vote me in....” It stood a popular political phrase that might have lured students into an anticipitated leaking ship whose rays of survival lies on the leaders behind the mutilation of their students IDs. We all witnessed the trail and writhing of events in seizing the levers of power to the 25th SGC(MUSO officials) as we felicitously voted in hopeful political martyrs.

We all chanted and danced calypso with the reclaimed and lingering hope that this-25th SGC-was the MOSES to deliver the 10000 plus students to the land of flowing honey, milk and meat. I likened this to the year 2003 “mwamko mpya” switch over of regimes from tyranny to democratic governance version. Gauging from their catchy and politically enticing slogans, effervescent and mastery elocution it sounded oregano flavoured start in nestling students’ problems. This emanated from the harrowed experience with the immediate former MUSO officials who the leaders elect-25th SGC-were bravado castigators of. On a slow pace it’s likely that things are running haywire-reading from the furore, clouds of so alluded real- change might be secluded from realization and the promises by MUSO officials casted in dreamland.

I never prophesize as a protagonist in the political doctrine but some tides rings in me that we might be set aback by the SGC possibly taking an in fractious contrary course. This well-heeled students’ mouthpiece might voice for the 12 members bench (SGC) and not the 10000plus students’ population. Trod ding on the same pace, the 25th SGC signals an epic start of wrecking and mutilating students trust to the MUSO officials. Let me cast a spell on some itching facts behind this to hammer the gong of my reasons tangibly and visibly.

What befall the tendering process? To date facts on this stand rhetorically a mind-boggling issue. Words revolved that the process sparkled ripples in the SGC as triggered by personal interest from the officials apparently burying transparency into a fissure. What disenchantment from our leaders? If verisimilitude and truths settles and if tendering was at all done, then it was lured in darkness as the SGC never aired pertinent information regarding the same.

We are still at financial torture rack owing to exploitation at the tucks shops and chips cafe. A disgruntling and bitter fact reveals that we are still at the mercy of the same disingenuous merchants who disintegrated us financially through price hikes last semester. Till now the intentionally galloping prices by these entrepreneurs are miles away from the MUSO officials’ concern zone.

The hiking fare mayhem-It was banked on as asset during the heated campaigns trail. Masqueraded leaders used the striking fare issue as a lethal political ammunition as a shield to votes security. I recall being showered by what I can currently term as politically seductive lies by serving politician that “if elected..the fare must be scaled down to 70 bob “capitalise and note that to this politician the word “must” might bears another meaning beyond our consent. By then the news sounded frolicsome and aromatic to digest though I was to vomit venom on nauseating reality later as fare hiked to 100 bob.

It never called for any genius to learn that I was a political bridge to be disdained after scaling route to power arena. It was just a stinging start of blatant abrogation and betrayal by these leaders. To date none of the MUSO officials has risen to the occasion and to air light on the fare issue. “Poor voters, we must learn to vote the Thomas way and cease being politically myopic.”

I never bet with my memory and I recall some officials talking about restoring the spirit of comradeship; whoever voiced the above sentiments stands accused of lexical assassination-why? He never knew what the word comrades meant. I never fall to a lexicographer but my light grammar puts it to me that comrades are people who share problems together. If we rhymed and share problems with the MUSO officials they could have come to my rescue as I queued for days before securing a space in F-HOUSES. (looting from a comrade version of F-HOUSES bearing its somewhere from MAIN campus.

To further my grief, how can my problems prey you as u were set for an opulent orientation trip to Coast. The clouds of the day dictate that our leaders might be assassinating this comradeship spirit as they are turning a blind eye and deaf ear as students grapple with vicious problems. I bear no beef with the MUSO coast trip...my euphemism boils whether the MUSO officials are voicing for the voiceless. The abominating question bases itself on the vital essence in the SGC going for a ”trip” as students are being scorched by problems.
