MUPL officially kicks off this Friday

By Stanley Kimuge

The much-talked campus league commences this Friday at Ngeria grounds at 4pm (CMT). The event that was expected to start on 2nd September was pushed due to player’s fatigues blamed on the just concluded Buuba (Bull) tournament.

According to the Games and Sports Director, Mr. Brian Mukholwe the football tournament will kick on a keynote. Residing on the prevalence of drug abuse and abortion cases reported last year, the MUSO leader believes it is the high time comrades revert to the sports.

On his campaign trail, he had promised the he will institute a vibrant sports committee to spearhead the much needed reforms. The members commissioned will be mandated with the running it. This is what is giving the former TSA official sleepless nights as he implements his policies.

Some school Associations have promised to revenge after being bundled out of the Buuba. School of engineering students will be hoping to retain all the trophies after the pre-season tournament success which saw them lift the bull.

We have also learnt of teams lining up their “warriors” for the brewing sports battle. One school captain aka Wenger who spoke to this writer believes nothing will edge them out. He has been busied with balancing his side.

The participants will not go empty-handed. The golden gloves, best player, best team (3) and top scorers will have to be imparted medals and cash prizes. The climax of the event will be a colorful ceremony to be held in Student’s Centre where all brilliant will be feted.

The matches will be played on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on the same venue. Meanwhile there is a ripe plan to introduce campus inter-hostel bonanza. The event will be inclusive of all genders. The tournament dubbed sports day is scheduled to be held at end of this month. Chunky prices will be awarded to all thrilling teams.
