Of the campus life

By Stanley Kimuge

Now days, campus hostels depicts oddity in one way other the other. . .

1. Hostel M: M for Mjengo. Everything is under-mjengo. Look at the curtains, dust bins are still being designed in a factory somewhere. One Peter Mjengo told her theme to wait till when the sun shines. Until his room gets a cover from outside world. Where they can dispose their gem. Of course the bullet proofers. I also overheard, my classmate complaining about their fractured relationship with this fresher. Reason behind it is that, there it is still under intensive care unit or simply put, under construction.

2. Ati Breaking News is Hostel F is now Father’s Hostel or Baba Mbogas? Coincidentally it is directly opposite to the archives; Hostel E. No wonder it just silent place. When you pass through, you get taste of Zilizopendwa tunes. It houses the old and worn out. Our campus grand parents stay here. One dude threw verbally contaminated stuff to this guy who overplayed loud music. Yes the loud music in the middle of the night.

3. Then Hostels J and H. In case you don’t know J is the sister’s Hostel of H where dirt is an essential commodity. Most guys often go there to their relatives for stomach clinic. The dispensary is too far, after all. But I can’t forget that it is great middlemen. The Central Bank of Kampus (C.B.K).

4. Hostel C and D (Centrally but Dislocated) is where the woofers reach their loudest voice. If they have not broken their voice. Then here is their will. Maybe because it houses four at once. And for exilers, you might have to notify in advance both parties or your career is under surge.

5. Hostel A, B and Ngeria. This houses ‘the movers and shakers’. No wonder, those dudes with long hands had to begin there to trim them down to manageable levels.

5. Hostel L, the laughing tone. I suppose the only hostel that is genderly implementing the katiba. No gender is more than two thirds.

6. C, D, F-houses, great miles from the Student’s Centre. I realized that they are great trekkers or long distance travelers. They have those genes. Maybe from their ancestors. They comfortably fit in the Long distance Walkers Association. You can’t beat them in the walking race. I bet.

7. Barracks and upper Hill. Someone told me it was privilege to sleep next to the House on the Hill. So what do I say? Barracks and Upper Hill are strategically placed to accommodate the ‘Mpango wa kandos’!

8. Hostel K holds the key. In other words it is a kigeugeu hostel. I don’t really know why it faces everywhere. Si Soweto, the C-Houses yet ….
